A leading training provider in the plumbing and heating sector is making strides in the green energy arena by rebranding and introducing new specialized qualifications focused on sustainable technologies. Recently renamed Smart Energy, the company formerly known as Smart Gas, is adapting to the industry's shift towards more environmentally friendly energy solutions.

Expansion of Training Programs

As part of its new direction, Smart Energy has launched a Level 3 Low Carbon Heat Pump Engineer Apprenticeship. This program is designed to equip new recruits with future-ready skills and offer existing professionals an opportunity to improve their expertise. Additionally, Smart Energy’s parent company, Realise Training Group, offers the Level 4 Greener Futures Project Management Apprenticeship through its Business Skills unit. This qualification supports energy leaders in reducing their organizations' environmental impact.

Rebranding and Strategic Investments

The rebranding initiative and the launch of new apprenticeship offerings were recently introduced at the Energy & Utility Skills Conference held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. Smart Energy was acquired by Realise, a top training provider, which has invested £50,000 in the firm’s Ashbourne center as part of a larger strategic development plan.

Commitment to Green Energy Solutions

Gregg Scott, CEO of Smart Energy, stated, "This rebrand and the launch of these exciting apprenticeships marks an exciting new chapter as we expand our training offering to service the evolving needs of the energy sector." He highlighted the nation's transition to sustainable air source heat pump solutions by noting that traditional gas heating will become less common.

Future Growth and Online Resources

Scott emphasized, “It is absolutely vital that the nation has the skilled engineers to cope with the change and we stand ready to help the industry on this exciting journey." Plans for geographic expansion and further announcements are expected soon. Alongside the transformation, Smart Energy will launch a new interactive website in the coming weeks, offering detailed information on various courses, including the Managed Learning Program in gas engineering and multiple other training modules.

Track Record and Learner Reach

Since its inception in 2016, Smart Energy, previously Smart Gas, has successfully trained over 1,500 engineers and nearly 300 apprentices from regions including Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire, and Cheshire, following its recognition as an approved apprenticeship training center in 2020.
